Mohawk Valley Living

Hey! Did you catch me on Mohawk Valley Living this morning? On Tuesday, the host of the show and one cameraman came to my house to film me for today's episode. My buddy Amber from Tumblewool and I were featured businesses at the beginning of the show. What an honor! We weren't really sure if anyone would actually watch it, but at the Herkimer County Craft Show, we had a HECK-TON of people say that they saw us. WHAAAT?? Too funny!

Anyway, here's the segment if you missed it!

doTERRA Wild Orange Giveaway!

I have been a doTERRA Independent Product Consultant for about a year now. I could try to list all the ways I find to use essential oils, but the post would be too many pages. You'd fall asleep before you finished reading it! As far as quality goes, doTERRA oils truly are the best. I know that when I open a bottle, I am getting a product that has been put through rigorous standards and is the most pure version of the plant essence I can get.

I have not actively tried to promote doTERRA or to "sell" the oils. My team of consultants have joined the company because they quickly discovered what I know. You can't find better essential oils anywhere. I am just amazed at how quickly my team has grown, and how well they are each doing with their own personal essential oil businesses.

To celebrate that success, I am repeating a promotion I did a few months ago. For each person who orders a doTERRA product, I will personally give them a FREE Wild Orange Essential Oil (a $14 value!). Known as the "happy oil," Wild Orange can instantly uplift and energize you. It is perfect to use in cleaning, cooking, diffusing or applying topically.

To qualify for the giveaway, you must make your purchase from my website before May 31, 2013. To find out more about doTERRA products and to place your order, please visit my website: www.mydoterra.com/sarahwalker

DIY Dishwasher Detergent Tutorial

Did you know that making your own dishwasher detergent is quick, easy and cheap?? You can literally make it in less than 10 minutes, and it costs mere pennies per load. Many conventional dishwasher detergents are full of nasty ingredients like Phosphates, Parabens, Sulfates and other chemicals.

All of the required ingredients in this recipe can be found at your local supermarket. Follow these simple steps, and you will have a homemade detergent that is safe and natural.

Ingredients:
(Required)
Borax
Arm and Hammer Washing Soda
Kosher Salt
Citric Acid (can be found in the canning aisle)

(Optional)
LemiShine
doTERRA Lemon Essential Oil

Supplies:
Measuring Cup
Measuring spoons
Large Glass Jar or other container
Spoon
Funnel

Step 1:  Measure 1 cup of Borax.

Step 2: Measure 1 cup of Washing Soda

Step 3:  Measure 3 Tablespoons of Kosher Salt

Step 4:   If using LemiShine, measure 2 Tablespoons of Citric Acid. If not using LemiShine, use 4 Tabespoons of Citric Acid.

Step 5: Measure 2 Tablespoons of LemiShine

Step 6: Stir all powdered ingredients together.  Add 15-25 drops of Lemon essential oil. Stir again to thoroughly combine all ingredients.

Step 7:  Using a funnel, pour detergent into glass jar or other container with well-fitting lid.

To use your homemade dishwasher detergent:

Shake or stir detergent regularly to break up clumps. Clumping is normal and does not affect the ability of the detergent to clean your dishes. Use 2-3 Tablespoons of detergent at a time.

**Important Note!!** This detergent works best with a rinse aid. I use a couple splashes of distilled white vinegar in the bottom of the dishwasher before I start the load. You could also put the vinegar in your "rinse aid" compartment if you have one.

DIY Dishwasher Detergent Recipe

1 Cup Borax
1 Cup Washing Soda
3 T. Kosher Salt
2 T. Citric Acid
2 T. LemiShine (Or if not using, add 2 T. Citric Acid)
15-25 drops Lemon Essential Oil

Stir ingredients thoroughly and store in well-sealed container. Use distilled white vinegar as a rinse aid for best results.
